I graduated William Paterson University in 2007 with a Masters Degree in Biology, focusing on virology and immunology. From there, I attended the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic graduating in 2012 with my Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic. I interned during 2011-2012 and began actively practicing in July 2012. I am actively licensed in both New Jersey and New York states.

A  Chiropractic  adjustment  is  a  procedure  which  a controlled  sudden  force  is  applied  to  an  area  of  the body  which  may  be  still  or  immobile  and  does  not move properly.  At times when the force is applied an audible  click  may  be  heard,  which  signifies  that  the area has been adjusted.

Segments of the body become still or stuck over time naturally as we age or due to traumatic injury, such as a car accident or sports injury. Initially patients may be  too sore  to  be  adjusted.  Therefore,  we  apply  a mobilization  technique  to  move  the  segment  of  the body until we feel the area is ready to be adjusted.

This type of Laser therapy operates at a lower intensity than that of a high powered laser, which is used during a surgical procedure.  It works by lowering inflammatory factors such as prostaglandin E2, tumor necrosis factors and an influx of oxidative stress, edema and bleeding factors.  This therapy increases the strength, speed and quality of repair of the tissues.  Healing time will vary with each individual and consistency is necessary to see results.

Here is some more detailed information:

Anti-inflammation: Reduces swelling caused by any inflammation or bruising by dilating the area in question and flushing out any toxins.

Anti-pain: Affects nerve cells and blocks the pain transmitted by the cells to the brain.  Pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephlins are produced to reduce the pain sensation.

Faster tissue repair and cell growth: Light has photons and these photons penetrate into the affected tissues and generate cell growth and reproduction.  This means cells receive nutrients quicker and any waste products are removed to induce faster healing times.

Trigger points: The light penetrates specific muscular trigger points providing relief from aches and pains.

Reduced scar/fibrous tissue: The light allows cells to heal properly with correct tissue patterns therefore, reducing the amount of incorrect tissue patterns from scratches, cuts, burns or surgical procedures.

Nerve function: Nerve regeneration is very slow on its own.  This can cause numbness and improper mechanics of the region.  The cold laser will aid in the amount of action potentials which increase nerve production.

It is important to understand that results take time and vary based on the individual patient.  If you have any questions or concerns please ask us.

There are various uses for taping which include preventing injury, promoting recovery, providing muscle support, and improving circulation, which reduces fatigue and accelerates the healing process.  Taping conditions include inversion/eversion sprains, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, various knee conditions, which include patellar tracking and post knee replacements, quadriceps, hamstring, bicep & tricep sprains/strains, various low back conditions, postural correction and various sport injuries for support and healing.

Rock Tape is synonymous to Kinesio-Tape.  Made up to 97% cotton and 3% nylon, is elastic, hypo-allergenic with no latex and is water resistant.  It helps to provided better movement patterns for persons with injuries.  It works by compressing the injured site for quick recovery and decompresses to relieve swelling & and pain.  It does so by lifting the skin away from the soft tissue allowing more blood to reach the injured tissue.

Leuko-Tape is a non-latex tape with a very strong adhesive and is non-elastic as the Rock Tape.  It is best used for support and biomechanics for the re-education of the muscles and nerves.  This tape is initially used for patients with severe initial injuries.  After a few sessions with leuko-tape, patients are usually transferred to the Rock-tape protocol.  Results vary from individual to individual but, are very beneficial.

Most of the orthotics in stores are a generic based orthotic that are used in everyday activities such as standing, walking, running, working or any other type of activity.  For some people these orthotics help them carry on with their activities of daily living.  For others, these do not cut it.  Therefore, we offer custom orthotics that is fitted specifically to you the patient.  We take your feet, cast them in a foam casting box, send the casting box to the company and then receive the orthotics.  There is a break-in period with the orthotics which is about a week.  After that, patients wear them all day every day to help aid in the loss of the three main arches in their feet.  The arches that are lost are the Anterior Transverse arch, Medial Longitudinal arch and Lateral Longitudinal arch.  All these arches make a triangle under your foot.  Without these arches, the pain translates up to the ankle, shin bone, knee, hips, and lower back.  Sometimes, when patients come into the office their chief complaint is lower back pain and it is because of the loss of their arches.  If you would like to find out more about this issue, we can evaluate you and give you an explanation.

This is a technique that uses a stainless steel or hard plastic instrument to break down or reduce scar tissue and fascial restrictions to aid in proper healing of the tissues.  Graston is used by the doctor to identify fibriotic tissue, due to inflammation or various surgical procedures such as total knee replacements.

Overall treatment time decreases as well as increasing recovery and rehab time to allow the person to return to their activities of daily living quicker and more efficiently.
